How are they planning to enforce social distancing on public transport?
The trams/teains/buses are rammed as they are usually. And people just aren't going to wait ages for an empty one if it means adding an hour on to an already long commute, possibly being late for work, getting in trouble at work etc...
Not everyone has access to a car or bike and/or works within a reasonable walking/cycling distance.
Zero has been said about that, it's just been thrown back on to the public.
Similar with the message from TFGM. That wasn't full of "we're closing off alternate rows of seats", "we're putting up do not use signs so it's only 1 person per 2 people seat", "sometimes this may mean trams only opening one door for people to alight only, or buses driving past stops if the driver deems the bus full" or anything at all.
It was all "we're running even fewer buses, trains, trams than normal, don't care think of using public transport you naughty person, but if you do don't look to us for protection, you're on your own mate".
What if I can't work from home, can socially distance at work, can't get to work by any means other than public transport and can only travel during the busiest periods, but can't ensure safe social distancing whilst I commute? Can I refuse to go in? Would I win a tribunal if my employer sacked me? Would I be able to claim sickness/furlough/dole in such circumstances?
These are all hypothetical and not personal to me by the way.
