I appreciate that you recognise it’s superficial, but it seems like he/they can’t win though. ‘Miliband’s too odd and eats a bacon butty weirdly’, ‘Corbyn’s got the personality but he’s too far left’, and Starmer is so far leading well, asking the right questions and challenging the government in a firm but fair way without overly-politicising the issues involved, documenting all his questions and backing them up with evidence and stats, but apparently he’s too boring.
Meanwhile, lovable Boris with his floppy hair and bumbling statements can say whatever he likes (often nothing of any coherence) and people will lap it up or have a laugh about it or let it slide.
