So any suggestion that there is value in expunging this season and starting afresh with a new one is nonsense. It might well be August before football can be replayed again, then there’s a decision to be made. But it might be December, by which point you can’t start a new season anyway. Keep it on pause. Delay a firm decision unless and until we know when it is safe to play football again. Then assess from there. Clearly, if we can’t play again for months on end, there will be a case to look at starting again. But we don’t know for sure, and acting in haste is just silly. In the end, common sense will not prevail though, because there are too many people with too many (transparent) agendas on this.
