    Not allowed to do that, a furloughed worker is still employed by the company (albeit with a change to their T & C's) they are just not allowed to do any work. The alternative is to either accept lay off pay (which is usually a pittance in most T & C's) or be made redundant. Under the period the employee is furloughed they still accrue all other rights i.e holiday pay.
