I have read with interest your posts on "fairness" etc so I would appreciate your thoughts on my commnets below.
Once this crisis is over IMO life will return for us all, if over an extended period of time, to as it was before Covid 19
There may be slight changes to how people interact but in the main, and there are always exceptions to the rule, self preservation and self promotion will be the priority.
Theoretically a near to as you can get Utopian “fair for all” society should be the overwhelming wish of everyone.
Attempts in history have been made to secure this ideal society such as communism...but it has been rejected or corrupted by every society it has been introduced.
Even in the last UK general election the most radical “for the people” socialist agenda in decades it was rejected by the populous and most noticeably by its core support, society as a whole favoured leadership by what some would describe as “capitalist zealots”
George Orwell's Animal Farm suggests that man cannot, in fact, achieve a utopian society, as the protagonists in the story turn their backs on their ideals. It's important to remember that the book was intended to be an allegory for the communist Soviet Union under Josef Stalin
There are many many “ordinary people” who do put others first, but as is sadly being seen around the world the current crisis causes “ordinary people” to fight each other in supermarkets and to hoard and bulk buy to self protect and bugger those who can’t. Capitalism has won the ideological political battle; look not just at the UK but Russia, China, South America, Rumania, Bulgaria, Cuba etc etc etc where far left wing politics has been or is being rejected by the masses.
Why did millions of people in Eastern Europe in effect free themselves from what was full employment, from cradle to grave free comprehensive health care, financial social security for life etc in favour of a capitalist economy?
Middle of the road left wing “Tony Blair” politics will be the best our society will accept for years and years to come, irrelevant of this crisis and it’s after effects.
Even the Labour Party itself is seemingly rejecting the Momentum tendency within and will probably elect Kier Starmer as leader.
It’s a sad indictment IMO on “people” I agree but for those who wish it wasn’t then “dream on” I’m afraid!
