I think triumphant initial announcements set them up for a fall and the club is worried about the fan reaction to the perceived backtracking. Which as you say is weird cos they needn't be. Any fan with half a brain would have appreciated that the biggest development in the club's history is going to be a moveable feast and all that was needed was a bit of honesty about that from the get-go.

The Railway End roof announcement is concerning cos it smacks of a panicked after thought. I might be wrong but I think this application is the first time the club has even mentioned it.
