You think his appointment is a financial mistake – ‘implode’ – but factor in i) His stats show his niche is that he can quickly elevate unfancied teams, and ii) Even if you guessed right and he is expensive he is still a fiscally prudent one or two season punt at promotion when you offset his one wage against (for example) an annual wage bill of £20m for Ipswich to get out of League One in 22/23. Clever move.
