Jim's Birthday

Today is the 100th anniversary of Jim's birth. Jim has had a big influence on my life. He has been my favorite singer since I was about thirteen years old. That's about the time I first began to be really interested in listening to music. I am now seventy-one. No one else I have heard has had the same affect on my emotions. To me,Jim was a great artist. It has been a hundred years and no one has come along to replace Jim at the top.

Totally agree. I was about the same age when I discovered his magical voice.

I am almost 71 and have loved Jim's music since I was about 13 as well. My Mom was a big Jim Reeves fan and I grew up listening to her records. My mom and older brother were at the Carnegie Hall concert in 1961 that featured Jim, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins and others. I wish I had been old enough to go...

Would have been so cool indeed. My Dad did see Jim several times. Usually around the Navy base and shipyards in Virginia. He told me a story once that he was near the front row once and Jim was coming up some side steps to get on stage. Jim was having a bit of a fit because he did not have his guitar tuned. I think he usually left that to one of the Blue Boys.
