July 2nd marked the 62nd anniversary of Jim's last session at RCA, where thankfully, he recorded some of his best material in my opinion. Most of my very favorite singers have been taken too soon-- Jim, Elvis, Jim Croce, John Denver, etc. I'm sure there are others as well. Would like to note that this past week we lost-- in my opinion--a singer that was very underated. David Clayton Thomas, who was the lead singer in the group Blood, Sweat and Tears. They recorded some great classics like "You've Made Me So Very Happy", Spinning Wheel" and probably my favorite "And When I Die". They also recorded the standard "God Bless The Child". Best version I've ever heard! David's death didn't exactly make headlines and I wanted to pay tribute to him here. Fortunately, he lived a pretty long life. I believe he was 84...
