A post script to my earlier post:a friend of mine suggests the following story line. The song 'Blue Canadian Rockies' was written by Cindy for Gene Autry. In turn,Gene was featured in a movie in about 1952 called "the Blue Canadian Rockies"in which the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were part of the story (Red Tunics and all). However, the movie was filmed entirely in California not Canada. One of the sites for the filming was the San Bernerdino National Forest where golden poppies are supposedly quite common. As noted earlier they are indigenous to California.I cannot comment on the veracity of this anecdote but in some respects it makes sense.Whatever the case 'food for thought' perhaps. One question I have would relate to the timing of the song....was the movie made to fit the song or vice versa or ??? Cheers
