My wild guess on 'I heard you when your foot hit the bridge.": Could be saying one is too late to stop another from doing or saying something that cannot be undone... heard, but not in time, like stopping the suicider who takes the bridge exit. Or maybe referring to someone 'stumbling' when they came to a musical bridge? I recall hearing the expression used, but forget where. Oslo, maybe?
