Re: Which Jim Reeves do you prefer?
Without question, my favorite Jim Reeves was the smooth, velvet voiced Jim from around 1957 to 1964. I do admit there were some songs I liked from the early years, but those recordings could never compare with Jim's smooth style that he developed later on. I find it very interesting that Jim even re-recorded a few of the early songs years later. Just listen to both versions of "Waltzing On Top Of The World" and "Where Does A Broken Heart Go?". They sound like two different people recorded them, and the later versions are by far the best! As for that new Bear set, it shows just little effort they used to come up with a new release on Jim -- a 3-CD set of his worst recordings that have been re-released a million times before. How could anyone resist buying this little gem?!
