Anyway, inspired by this thread, I went to read Disch's article and was amused to see that it said pretty much what I thought about Disch himself when I first read him some years ago. This man (I thought) is writing this way just to be avant garde-ish, and also possibly because he has nothing to say. He's made a career for himself since, but my opinion remains the same.
