I first read Whittemore after a Harper's review in the 70s. Since then I have read them all more than once. I had them all on my IPad but lost them somehow. On trips to the Middle East I always lingered in one of his "dusty waysides." I have recommended the Quartet to many friends and just about all love them as much as I do. Enough said.
