I love touching base with old acquaintances and friends. It's heart warming when out of the blue someone thinks of you and reaches out, especially when the relationship might have been cordial but not necessarily close. Two former co-workers from my 20 year stint in one company contacted me that I never would have given a second thought to but I did remember them. Another person from the same company blew me away. A woman I had mentored when she just got out of college back in the 70's. She had more recently written a short thesis about a person most instrumental in her life and sent me a copy. It was a glowing synopsis of our time together during that period. We have touched base from time to time in the intervening years but I never knew the impact that had been made. She had gone on to achieve some enviable successes in her business career and this gesture brought tears to my eyes. We had a Christmas visit with her and her family the year before last.
