Re: Big Windstorm
We had no power several times this past winter, the winds were hard and often. We had no lights, no internet, no phone, no TV. Bert had to light the pilot with a match to use the stove, nor could we use the oven. One day it was 14 hours, most of the time we sat in the dark. Makes you realize how dependent we are. Caring for 2 ill people who need meds, hands-on care, etc., was that much harder, done with flashlights in hand. The cable company had to come out and replace the boxes before we could join civilization again, which meant no landline, internet, or TV for a couple of days. My printer still doesn't work, it doesn't recognize the new connection, I will have to call Brother again and hope they can help. The first time power went out, it permanently damaged my Word program, which is no longer supported, and I need to figure out what I want to do re: a new one as my old computer is Windows 7 and the laptop is Windows 10. The new laptop is OK for fooling around, I wouldn't want to do anything serious on it, it's OK for a while, then becomes very slow. I haven't learned how to find all the things I can do on the desktop, which I like so much better. I just haven't had the time to call, but it makes things more difficult to be without it.
