We are 6 adults here, all with TVs and computers, so we would naturally use more than smaller families, but that isn't the reason for the humungous cost. It's the rates. It isn't just me. The whole city is being charged up the butt, no matter how many in the family. By the way, my house is nice size, but not large large as many of them in L.A. are, I have 2500 square feet. We don't turn on the a/c until it's absolutely necessary in the mid-afternoon when the temperature climbs. We shut it down and open windows as soon as the sun goes down. I did look into solar several years ago. Both we and the rep agreed it hardly paid because I have a mountain right behind me. When the rest of the Valley is in sun, I am in shade. The mountain blocks the sun quite early. This is great when its 105 degrees, but not a good thing for solar. We figured out we would not have a decrease now, and wouldn't break even for many years.
