I'll find out about Meals-On-Wheels. I live in a rural area so don't think I'll find a lot of senior centers in the area.
When we moved here we had no idea what the future held for us. We looked forward to enjoying our sunset years. We never expected him to die before me or for me to become this disabled. Unable to drive or even walk.
Nancy the assisted living here is costly if you want a decent place to live. My BIL was paying $5000 a month for care in a nice private facility. This goes for private nursing homes also. Medicare provides the bottom of the barrel places when your cash runs out. They're warehouses where you go and wait to die. They're overcrowded and understaffed. Ask Mama what she found there in CA. It's no different here.
I know you're trying to be supportive and positive but I've seen on TV and heard and read too many horror stories to feel confidant about going into asst living because of what happens when your cash runs out.
