You probably qualify for Meals on Wheels, it's a nationwide program so the social worker will know more. There are also transportation programs for people with disabilities, another national requirement that all counties must provide. If you lived in town there is probably a senior center with a lunch program. Those centers have all kinds of activities. And finally, there is assisted living. Florida has plenty of them. The social worker will know about all of the senior and health assistance programs in the area.
When we bought this house we were thinking about a future in which we're not as able as now. Having been responsible for the older generation in my family, who lived into their 90s, we know what to expect. That's why we bought in town. Had we not had the money from selling our L.A. house we would have either bought a condo in this neighborhood or a house in another neighborhood. We have long term care insurance which will pay for any assistance at home or in a care facility.
