Hi, I just wanted to ask in this group since my extensive Google searches have yielded nothing.
My grandpa, Thomas (Tom) Burk, bred english setters in the 80’s. He was a judge at the grand national grouse championship, so I’m thinking he would not have been totally unknown to those in the breed.
Here’s what I do know: - Bred in the NY/PA area around the 1980’s - Kennel name was Hillbilly Kennels - Dogs were supposedly AKC registered with KN in the RN
I’m looking to get a bird dog in the future and I think it would be super cool to possibly get one with his old dogs in the pedigree (assuming the current dogs are what I want, etc).

Sara, I saw your post, I was talking with Bill McFadden and he reminded me that your grandfather reported the Pennsylvania Grouse Championship in earlier years. He did an exceptional job, and we were wondering if you had seen any of his writings and I'm sure it would mean a lot to you to hear his words again.... Please call me at your leisure at 724-859-3908, I own a copy of the First Fifty Years Pennsylvania Grouse Championship, and we will make sure you get copies of his report.
Joe and Bill....

Sara: I sold your grandfather a setter back in the 80's. Your family came to pick the puppy up in Townville, Pa. The sire of the dog was Sam L's Rimfire and the mother, my female Okemos Rhinestone Abby, was out of Rhinestone Cowboy and a Pleasant Valley female out of Pleasant Valley Clyde and Pleasant Valley Liz. I kept two males out of the litter and they were outstanding bird dogs. I talked Tom into judging a few trials at Black Ash in the late 80's, but we eventually lost touch, so I am not sure what became of the dog. I also know that he had a dog he really liked out of I'm Oscar. I hope this helps.
