Sorry to say,but I think its time to change venues. Before they destroy the 90 yr tradition of great grouse trials the guys in control must soon realize they're doing more harm than good.Moving one bird only cheapens the sport. FIND BETTER GROUNDS OR JUST CANCEL THE EVENT.ITS A SAD TIME FOR pa grouse trials. Sorry.

Tom, its not the first time in the past few days I've heard it mentioned its time to cancel the Pa championship until something changes. And I know this will piss a lot of people off, but the change wont happen until the officers and BOD resign together, immediately. No hangovers to influence people, they need new and fresh ideas without someone telling them why and how it wont work
I've heard for years now about moving the grounds and every time I ask how that is going, I get a song and dance and nothing ever happens, and then I hear about tradition. One bird on six courses is not tradition its a tragedy. I'm done helping until something changes. We cleaned a lot of courses over the summer for them not to be used so the could use the six "best" courses. Well how damn good is a course without any birds?
I could come up with a plan at a recommended area that has a 75% chance of working, 25% chance of failing, but not doing anything has a 100% chance of failing. It would take minimal effort by 4-6 dedicated people over the next few months to see if we could make it work. But without "the keys to the car and the credit card to fill the gas tank", I wont even waste my time to get involved.
Rant over, time to get back outside on a perfect fall afternoon to catch up on all the work that was ignored while I was away for a month.

This is probably the first time i have ever agreed with Tom.That being said it shouldn’t diminish the champion of this year’s trial. I have seen River and she is certainly a nice dog and probably still could’ve and would’ve won if every dog had an opportunity at a bird.It would certainly be nice to have known if it that was the case.A change has been long overdue.Congratulations to Marty and Robert.John Stolgitis
