    CVGDA of WI April 8.9,10

Posted by Brent for Roger on 4/6/2022, 9:32 am

    Big Entry.

Meet at Wilson Park in the mornings. Dogs shall be on the ground by 7:30 am which means we leave Wilson park WELL before that, especially on Saturday and Sunday Morning. We can't get back any wasted daylight.

Plan is to run 7 OSD braces on Friday and maybe 8? if we have early pickups, scratches, etc. We'll finish this stake on Saturday morning.

Plan is to run 7 Am Shooing dog braces on Saturday. We'll finish this stake on Sunday.

Plan is to run most of the Derbies on Sunday. The first couple braces of derby might get slipped in on Saturday, depending on how the shooting dog braces get rotated through the courses.

      THANK YOU

      To the CVGDA Gang,
Thanks for another Great Weekend, Fabulous Hospitality, as usual, lots of dogs, most I've seen in decades, and many, many birds, on what I consider the Best Coverdog Venue in the country. Highlight of the Spring, so far. Thanks

First place went to Ghost Ryder (SM) handled by Jordan Pharris. He rattled off 3 confident grouse finds and 3 woodcock finds on the Wilson Park Course with a good race that took him to the birds.

Second Place was Northern Slopes Star (SF) handled by Ed Graddy. Star tallied a woodcock early in the hour and a very pretty grouse find late in the hour, and went on to punctuate the performance with a great smooth finish on the snow covered Gasline Course.

Third Place was Over the Hill Merry (PF) handled by Rod Lein. Merry had four evenly spaced finds on the Horse Creek Course (3 wc + 1 gr) in an action packed hour.

Very good spring shooting dog stake, with numerous contenders having multiple finds.

The Crown Jewel of the CVGDA spring season is the Don Didcoct Amateur Classic. Some last minute judging changes had to be made due to factors too numerous to go through. But at any rate, Chris Bye and Bert Benshoof did a great job looking at all of the contestants over two days and we were happy to have them!

Winner was Northern Slopes Allie (SF) handled by Ed Graddy. Allie ran on the County H course, and tallied a woodcock and grouse. She completely tore apart the last thirty minutes of the course in eye popping appeal. Great job.

Second Place was Northwood Cedar (SF) handled by Lindsey Saetre. I didn't witness this brace, but was told it was a multiple find performance, also on the County H course. Exciting young dog that sparkles on the ground, and on birds.

Third place was Rib River Tough Enough (BM) handled by Roger King on the Gasline Course. Tuffy tallied a tricky woodcock find, inside of a minute off the breakaway, and went on to have a good hour. Fun dog and happy handler! Great job.
