Matawan Riversharks and Shohei Ohtani have a greed to a lifetime contract. The contract has a full no trade clause. When asked why he would sign a lifetime contract with Matawan, Ohtani stated that "Matawan showed faith in me when they drafted me I'm the 5th round, not even knowing if I would come to America, let alone if I could play at this level. I want to respect and reward that faith."
Since this contract locks Ohtani in to having the Riversharks be the only franchise he would ever represent, he was asked if he would potentially tially ever want to play elsewhere, like maybe Florida? His answer was "I would rather watch thr Oppenheimer movie, than be a Headhunter."
