Like Johan, I am surprised, well, appalled, actually, that this sensitive and very important job is not being supervised by the Royal Archivist, whose remit, surely, this is. However trusted the footman is, it is difficult to comprehend his qualifications as an archivist.
The Palace would do well to remember the mess they created when Her Majesty decided that her correspondence with the Australian Governor-General, Sir John. Kerr, was private.
