I certainly hope that King Charles changes the politic and awards foreign Queens a british Order. The Royal Victoria order would be ideal for it. I could very well understand if he continues his mothers order politic in this regard that foreign monarchs don't award an order to queen Camilla (that is what i would do).
I meant the GCVO. Agree with the earning of honours for Royal's.
Odd double standard also that Queen Elizabeth only gave MALE consorts (Bernhard, Henrik, Claus) honours. I would hope this was consistent in the future and all consorts treated the same, though it may well be after the reign of Charles before there is another male consort.
Sir Tim Laurence received the KCVO in 2011. Perhaps you mean GCVO? I suspect he will indeed receive this some day, and a coronation honours list is as good an occasion as any.
Queen Elizabeth had a different attitude to orders than other monarchs (and also than her own father/grandfather etc) who give them to family-members as a default. Queen Elizabeth only handed out orders to people once she thought they'd earned them, very rarely did someone receive a decoration just as an honour. Thus wives of visiting Kings and Presidents would never receive British decorations, even if they always did so in other countries (and Prince Philip often did receive foreign decorations).
I hope King Charles will act somewhat more like other monarchs in this regard, and thus hand out some more honours - but we'll have to wait and see.
I'd also like to see the garter or thistle for the duchesses of Edinburgh and Gloucester, it's probably to late for the Duchess of Kent, in recognition of their many years of service. And for the Princess of Wales in the not to distant future.
Does anyone else think Sir Tim Laurence has a chance?
He is not royal.
