Re: Princess Margaret and the ledger stone
Perhaps I'm confused, isn't the purpose of a ledger stone to list who is interned in the chapel? I would think that a ledger stone would have the same purpose as headstone or tombstone in a cemetery. If there are five people interned in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, shouldn't the ledger stone list all five people?
"Princess Margaretís ashes are also buried in the chapel, though her name is not on the inscription."
Additionally, I think I remember reading that at the time of Princess Margaret's death, the reason she was cremated was so she could fit in the King George VI Memorial Chapel. Or am incorrect about that?
I can think of two possible reasons:
Prncess Margaret did not receive the Garter.
Her ashes have not been placed under the stone.
