Yes, the scape-goating of the brave King served multiple political interests of the times. Like Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, Leopold III ended up in an utterly impossible and unenviable position. Easy for those who were not in their shoes to sit in judgement of them from a safe distance. History is not always fair; it's the victor's interpretation of it that normally gets handed down to us. Fortunately, some of Leopold's defenders stood up for him even when it was risky for them to do so. Hitler was the villain behind these national catastrophes, not Leopold or Paul.
