It is true that King Leopold III's position during the Second World War was wrong to many like for the Belgian government in the first place, staying in Belgium, while the government left the country.
Also his controversial meeting with Hitler was not appreciated.
No one from the British royal Family attended his funeral in 1983 as the only European royal monarchy at that time.
Nevertheless Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip were the only heads of state to pay a visit at Argenteuil in Waterloo, during their state visit in 1966.
when Leopold III capitulated to the Nazis, an action that was viewed by the British as treachery.
Oh, there was extensive treachery alright, and eighty years later, a grievous wrong which has never been righted by either the actual treacherous parties or their living representatives. I refer all who are truly curious (or merely seeking to have a better informed opinion) to the reading list posted below.
