You're right, McMahon has always protected him and pushed him as a legend, and it worked. Mark Calaway was the perfect guy for that gimmick, and it's endured. I've said this before, what's kinda sad is by the time The Undertaker became a truly great in ring worker, his body had already broken down. It seems weird to mention say The Undertaker and Lou Thesz in the same breath as legends in pro wrestling, but both are. Take Thesz and Gorgeous George, both legends but totally different style performers. It's generational and regional too. A lot of fans who loved The Undertaker have no idea who Lou Thesz even is. Jackie Fargo wouldn't get any mentions as a legend outside of Tennessee and Kentucky. Tony Falk, not a legend in pro wrestling, sorry pally.
