How do you feel about being licensed to teach extra subject areas besides music?
I'm coming back to teaching (I taught for a year then joined the military ~15 years ago) and I'm working with Troops to Teachers (TTT) to get licensed in my state. I filled out a questionnaire that asked, among other things, about language skills and industry certificates. Now the guy at TTT suggests I pursue Spanish and Cybersecurity/IT endorsements on my license, in addition to Music. I know it could open otherwise-closed doors for me, but I'm concerned that if I do that...then I'll be asked to teach those classes! I have a degree in Music Education, but I haven't actually studied Spanish or Cyber pedagogy. Soooo... So if I don't pursue those endorsements, am I limiting myself too much and will schools pass on my resume? Will it matter 5% of the time? 85% of the time?
This isn't directly related to the endorsements question, but I just knocked out the Praxis: Music Content Knowledge (5113) with a score of 192!

You mention other Virginia, there it might matter...? In Texas most of the time we're fairly fortunate to get to teach just band in most positions. If you're trying to get a job in a smaller school though an extra endorsement might help.
