I'm coming back to teaching (I taught for a year then joined the military ~15 years ago) and I'm working with Troops to Teachers (TTT) to get licensed in my state.
I filled out a questionnaire that asked, among other things, about language skills and industry certificates. Now the guy at TTT suggests I pursue Spanish and Cybersecurity/IT endorsements on my license, in addition to Music. I know it could open otherwise-closed doors for me, but I'm concerned that if I do that...then I'll be asked to teach those classes! I have a degree in Music Education, but I haven't actually studied Spanish or Cyber pedagogy. Soooo...
So if I don't pursue those endorsements, am I limiting myself too much and will schools pass on my resume? Will it matter 5% of the time? 85% of the time?
