Director attire and judges comments

Judges please do not comment on a directors attire on the sheets. It is unprofessional, uncalled for, and just a really really bad look. Unless they are naked. Then you can say something.

Seriously, just stop judging folks on the color of their shoes. Use the rubric. It is there for a reason.

Or the students. I had a judge one year make only comments on the front page about how the students were not dressed with the exact same clothes. She complained about how the shirts, pants, shoes, and even belts not matching were a distraction to the performance and disrespectful to the judges and audience. They were al in plain white top, blakc pants, and black shoes. Then on the back, she decided to give me a history lesson on why the march should be first and how (again) it was disrespectful to perform it last. She gave us a two minus (even though the sheets clear state no plus or minuses). I would have complained to UIL, but let's just say that doing so would have fallen on deaf ears to to who the judge was related to (IYKYK).

Professionalism goes both ways. That judge wasn't.

...but unless people start complaining en masse, and there are repercussions levied on a judge who acts like this (and puts it in writing), this kind of unprofessionalism will continue.

The problem is, though - how do we complain ...?

To whom do we direct those complaints? What's due process look like in this situation? Who handles it?

For starters go to the TMAA website

Click on "Judges" then on "Grievence Process",

then complain to the Region Sec., then the UIL office.

Then, stop entering UIL, explain to your admin. why...especially if they are on the REC. UIL will just *love* not getting our money.
