Some clarifications:
#1 - The family can definitely pay for lessons.
#2 - The student "supposedly" takes lessons from a "family friend" every now and then. Though I am not sure of the regularity or quality of these "lessons."
#3 - The student is doing well and consistently makes Region and does well at Solo/Ensemble.
As I type this, I guess I am wanting a more structured lesson regime that I am familiar with, and the teacher we have selected for our program.
The "supposed" lessons must be working or the kid is exceptionally talented - or both. I think I have talked myself into letting them into Varsity.
Not a battle I want to fight today or this year.
