How is that different in literally ANY classification?
Those with private lessons and more staff do better in region, whether 6A, 4A, 3A, or 2A. This isn't a big school vs small school debate.
After all - look at HISD, DISD, and the like - aside from their fine arts academies, the majority of schools within inner city districts do very poorly in region auditions even if they have "all the money" in the district. Dallas' budget is billions annually. I promise you their band programs only see a trickle of that money.
ATSSB folks (and I was one for going on 20 years) need to admit that they aren't any different than big school folks when it comes to haves and have nots - and no one is going to create the Association of Texas Impoverished Communities And Undersupported Programs With Insufficient Staff School Bands organization any time soon.
If your argument is "suburbs shouldn't be allowed to participate in ATSSB" then explain how to make that make sense in any way other than "they have more money, I don't like it."
School size is school size. Stop complaining about "reclassified, wealthier schools" and TEACH YOUR KIDS. Find ways to make it work.
