We have a Musser knock off that has a hook with a spring that holds tension on the eye bolt for the dampener. I'd recommend trying a zip tie or velcro strap to wrap through the eye bolt and around the hook to hold them together when the medal was moved during transport.

This year we added another synth to take instead of the vibraphone. The wear and tear on the frame and instrument was an issue.
