A lot of schools have to travel a large distance to get to Area marching contest (3-5 hours). Knowing the draw order as early as possible allows for time to start looking into reserving busses and or hotel rooms. Wouldn't be as much of a problem if UIL would go to more areas for 4a and lower like they have for 5a and 6a. We can't all be lucky enough to be an hour away from a contest site, but it could be better than having to drive 4+.

That's why people worry. And the secretaries in charge of draw order and schedule have no real reason to wait late. It could be done over the summer.
