You don't necessarily need to notify admin, but if you're in an assistant position, I would definitely let your head director know. People move all the time, so don't be afraid to do this.

If you're in a single director position, you could notify your admin if you wish, but it's not necessary. Just be ready to have your reasons ready if asked.
