I can't enjoy most of McGinty's grade 1 stuff. It just doesn't lay the way music is orchestrated today - that and it was so horribly overplayed early in my career. You couldn't go to a UIL or a festival without a half dozen bands playing Atlantis or All the Pretty Little Horses.

OP: Here's a couple more.

Try Bleak Midwinter by Holst/Bullock, Ballet of Spring by O'Connor, or maybe the Sweeney arrangement of Ye Banks and Braes o' Bonnie Doon. I also enjoy While I Watch the Yellow Wheat by Daehn. First Light by Ticheli isn't "traditional" but it's still quite lyrical for most of it and is a Grade 1.
