Totally not trying to be disrespectful, but you can only schedule around so many things. I looked up the holiday and learned some things about it so that was nice, but before your post I would not have known it was even a thing.

I would bet it was not intentional. As I tell the students, there is only so many things life is going to accommodate for you. For the rest you have to be flexible.
