Re: Concert order at contest
It SHOULD be up to the director, but one year I put my march last and was destroyed by a judge for it. They literally only wrote on the front about how the march should be first because it was traditional and the history of how the march started out as a warm up. She told me I needed to take the order seriously. She didn't write a single comment about the performance or circle any plus or minuses. On the back, she ranted about how my students white shirts, black pants, and black shoes did not match and how it was disrespectful to the judges that the students were not dresses exactly alike. They were all wearing plain white shirt (some girls in blouses), plain black pants (some girls in slim pants or flair legs), and plain black shoes (some girls in sandals, heels, or flats). Again, nothing about the performance. Rating - 3. The other two judges were a 1 and a 2 (with the gut punch "this was very close to a 1" comment). I would have complained, but considering who she was "related to" it would have fallen on deaf ears. I wish I could tell CF exactly what I thought of her judging that day. But yes, you can put the march where ever you want.
