Welcome to the
Unofficial Message Board for Oregon State Gymnastics!
Even though OSU scored a 197.650**, they placed fourth at the meet, 0.100 behind #6 LSU & #3 Michigan tied at 197.750!
(**This was the third highest score of the season, and second highest away meet score!)
... OSU finishes the season Ranked 12th (Final Rankings ... except for the 8 advancing to Nationals) only two teams that did not advance to Nationals scored higher, #9 Michigan & #13 Ohio state scored 197.750s (#10 Alabama & #11 Michigan State also scored 197.650s in Regional Finals) ... below are reports on the competition & results ...
OSU Release:
Beavs Close Season with Fifth-Highest Score in Program History
Signed Score sheets: Denver Regional Finals
(Note: On page 3, is the calculation to break the tie between LSU & Michigan, they added all 24 scores for ALL four teams, … by that calculation, only LSU & OSU having gone 24-for-24, they “rank” #1 & #2 respectively!)
(For those of you that were there, you may recall, as I did this morning, how this reminds me of the 2010 Regional in Missouri, where #15 Missouri was the third seeded team and won the Regional, #5 UGA & #8 OSU were the top-2 seeds. It was a single six-team meet at that time, OSU started on floor and ended on a bye, as we watched UGA finish on beam to tie OSU! OSU won the tie-breaker by having gone 24-for-24 to advance to Nationals!!)
Jade Carey will advance to Nationals to compete for a National title as an individual on Beam only, scoring a 9.950 that tied her for 2nd!
After removing the winner of Beam (9.975) from Denver, a Denver gymnast and an LSU gymnast “tied” with Jade, leaving her tied with Michigan gymnast Sierra Brooks (9.950) ... the third tie-breaker breaks the tie ... “highest NQS ranked gymnast” of the two is Jade!
