'CLEOPATRA' is blooming! Any idea, as to what type of plant she is? Ordinarily, the foliage is half green and half purple. The flowers can also be half red and half yellow. This year, the foliage is a solid dark purple/black, and the bloom is dark orange, and mottled with yellow. Odd how this plant type can vary from one year, to the next...
Here's a pic of the RICE PAPER PLANT, Tetrapanax papyrifer, in my garden, in summer. Anybody else growing this plant, in their garden? It has great looking, large, tropical-like leaves, that are nearly a foot across...
Another ORIENTAL LILY is blooming, in my garden. The cultivar of this one is, 'Gold-Banded'. You can probably see why it was given its cultivar name...

I like the globe thistle. The canna is nice. My rice paper plant grew fine in a tub until I transplanted it into the ground and promptly died. It had been outside year-round. Everything looks nice. Thanks for posting. I look every time even though I don't post a lot.
Thanks, Mark. Although Globe Thistle is a hardy perennial, it also self-seeds, but not in an "all over the yard" invasive sort of way.
My Rice Paper Plant has been growing in the ground for years. It gets a garbage bag amount of leaf (from fall yard raking), or a hay mulching (if I have a extra bale left), each fall, and regrows from the root, by late spring. So, it is root hardy, in z6.
