A waggie,bulgarian and a nainatal with pictures .They all died from a several cold spells of 5-12 deg.winter of 2014 DC z7/8

There were survivors here, quite a few in fact. But there were losses too. Two years ago was a rough one for my area. Seems like we set a record for lowest minimum high temperature. I had a 14'F high that day. Palms can take lots of below freezing temps, even long consecutive stretches. What helps is sunny days, which I had the last two years of cold winter spells. Of course all this is only applicable to my area. There are different levels of cold, duration etc... for other areas. Kevin seTN

Louisianna lost all it's fronds .I believe it was from strong sun rays on cold days .it is regrowing it's fronds but it was the first time t lost all of them .Usually it might lose one or two.It's around 20 or so years old and has never been covered during winter ,even when it had strap leaves. Oklahoma Don sent me some in exchange for some Yucca Gloriosas . That video you posted from the Hudson River Valley Ny of the guy wrapping his palms had some beautiful Rostratas . I grew up in that area along the Hudson River Valley NY. Both sides of the River. Tarrey Town and West Nyack near the Tappan Zee ridge. Was just a boy when they built the bridge. You could hear them working on it 24 hrs. a day around the clock all year

They were determined to finish that bridge huh? I haven't seen a lot of NY. One year we went on a short trip to the Geneseo and Letchworth State Park area. Having said that, I feel like I've been to Niagara Falls a hundred times, lol. I grew up in northeast Ohio, on the lake. Years ago me and Rob (fellow palm person on this board) went in on 50 sabal Louisiana's from Don in OKC. I don't have any left, that was a handful of residences ago, but Rob may still have some. I wonder is she still living, growing palms, or only posting on social media. She moved from one state to another, and dug up a nice sized Jubaea to take with her.
