Now that the helicopter-like seeds have stopped falling from the big silver maples in my yard, it is time for the neighborhood cottonwood trees to shed cotton. So much so, that it can look like it is snowing outside, through the window. "Stink trees", also known as Trees of Heaven, or Sumac to others, to bloom and their flowers to give off their foul, stinky odor...
Last month, I posted that my Parasol Tree, or Firmiana simplex, completely survived my -10F winter, and posted this pic, just as the leaf buds were breaking:
