Fred, good luck with palm fertilizing. I am still a couple months away, from 50 degree soil temps, and maybe even removing protection from palms. I notice that you have daffodils blooming. I am also a few months away from those blooming, here. I'm assuming that you, or your neighbors don't have any of "the earlier than daffodil" bloomers growing, like snowdrops, crocus, etc., or that they bloomed before the recent snow and cold blasts, that affected most of the eastern half of the lower 48 states. Cold has been around here, since December, and just now beginning to break.

Nevertheless, despite not having a winter, as cold as this one, over the last 7 or 8 years, I do have a few things blooming, or otherwise "showing winter color", here, even though the Dutch bulb season hasn't begun yet. One of my Clivia plants is blooming. Sometimes, I'll get a second blooming from this one, in summer. Fudingzhu tea olive blooms nearly year'round. The fragrance from just a few tiny blooms will perfume a relatively large area. Believe it or not, I received this Amaryllis bulb, back in November, but it did not begin blooming until January. A second bloom stalk is still blooming. The Flamingo Flower, Anthurium andraenum, flowers year'round.
I have ripening tropical FRUIT, too, from my Tamarillo, Cyphomandra betacea, true 'Eureka' Lemon, Citrus limon, and sweet 'Meiwa' Kumquats. Although I wish the flower buds forming on my 'SueBelle' White Sapote, could have waited a few more months, so they could be insect-pollinated, OUTDOORS, like the Kumquat blooms were, last summer...
