I received two new bareroot, dormant apple trees, from Trees of Antiquity Nursery. They specialize in heirloom, old-fashioned varieties of fruit trees. I only ordered ONE tree, but they were gracious enough to send me a free tree. How cool is that! Although I opened the box, yesterday, I didn't discover the second tree, until I cut the string that tied the two trees together, today, before planting the trees. Anybody plant any nursery stock, yet? If you look closely, you can see that leaf buds are swelling...

Carolina RED JUNE: This variety is one of the earliest to ripen in summer. In Western North Carolina, this variety ripens in JUNE. Yet, the trees are hardy down to z4-
