Last week, I got a new Chinese Date/Jujube, in a gallon pot (not bare rooted (although still safe to plant, now, if ground is unfrozen). The variety is 'Lang'. Asians pronounce is as, "LONG". Last week, temps were in the bitter cold range, for a few days. Lowest temp was 10 above zero. Expecting to put the plant in the ground, after the snap, I kept the pot in the garage, where it would be cold, but not as cold, as outside. For those who may not know, Chinese Dates are ZONE FIVE hardy, with no protection. This plant was already in a DORMANT STATE, and leafless, upon receipt. Temps were above 32 today, so I decided to PLANT the tree, in the ground. Surprisingly, the ground was not frozen, even after the recent bitter cold. I guess this is due to the overall mild fall. Here is a pic of the newly planted Chinese Date. Anybody else planting anything, Lol?...

Here's a pic of my CHRISTMAS BERRY/Coral Berry, Ardisia crenata, now that its fruits have ripened. This pic came just before I gave the plant its winter protection. Does look a bit festive, I think. This plant is a subtropical, BLE I got from Woodlanders, several years ago...

Here are a few more new plants I have added to my collection. The pic below, is a NATAL PLUM 'Boxwood Beauty'. The plant already has a few developing fruit on it, and a few unopened flower buds. Like some citrus, it can bloom, while fruits are forming. This plant is native to South Africa. This cultivar was given its cultivar name, because it is lower-growing, like a Korean boxwood, but still makes fruit...

Here's another tropical fruit. It is commonly grown in Asia, and is related to longans, and rambutans. This plant is a LYCHEE, and the variety is 'Sweetheart'...
