But even after that, they were still saying we were in a moderate drought situation. The problem was 2023 was well below average in precipitation. We were already in a deficit situation before this summer. So, after Debby, they were saying we needed to replenish our water reserves.
Then came the last week of August. A rather nasty storm came through Thursday in the late afternoon and early evening that dumped around 2.5 inches. A storm that moved through Saturday afternoon brought about 1.5 inches more. So, according to a local weather station Website, we got around 11 inches in August. Even with all of that, we still may be considered in a deficit situation because of last year.
