Then the chemical heat hand and foot warmers that I had. Plan #2. They make full body warmers now, too, that last up to 18 hours.
Plan #3: Pile blankets over my round dining room table and hunker down underneath with the blanket and warmers.
Many people in New England and New York have woodstoves/fireplaces as backup heat or have generators but not apartment buildings, unfortunately.
Does you town offer shelters if the power were to go out?
It's amazing when I think about it. I grew up in a very rural town with raging blizzards year after year and not once did we lose power. The only time was when the entire Eastern Seaboard went out in 1965.
