Where did Jim go?

Will mentioned "princeps" and that reminded me of Jim growing the palm AND the cycad princeps in Iowa.
I might be last poster to plant boards on Earth one day..ha.

Jim - some yrs back I asked what the name of the siding style your house at the time had. You answered the question but I don't recall what it was and I can't find that post now. If you don't mind, could you tell me again the name of that siding type? Thanks.

I want to build a planter using that type of siding. It would be similar to the shou sugi ban technique I used in the below planter. With that technique, the brown tones of the wood are colored by temporarily (and carefully) setting the wood on fire. Then the flaky charcoal layer is sanded or wire-brushed off:

This technique actually helps preserve the wood.

I think on that Victorian style house I lived at the style is Bevel
lap siding.....that planter in your picture is amazing!

Thanks about the planter. I have a few others that also mimic architectural trends.

Got it - Bevel lap siding. The big difference with yours was the vertical length appeared to be only about 2". I'm still having difficulty finding that style and size. Mainly because I don't know the lingo for describing the short depth.

I think its hard to find now as most are 3" these days.
